We are what we consume is something I believe. Gaming and entertainment platforms enable us to look through different perspectives. Take for an instance that you're playing witcher-3 or any RPG-games(role-play), you are representing yourself on the field and you're conscious decisions change the gameplay. Especially in RPG games you can get to know the outcome by characters empathy(behavior) and in these games, you face situations or tasks which might help you be ready for real-life, I mean not totally but you'll have some thoughts about to how to face that situation if it occurs in the real-life.
Games like Minecraft shows the value of our limited resources and what happens if we exploit it. Believe it or not, kids who play these games carry a good mental model on environment and also have active voices on issues like global warming.
"Video games are very distilled environments in which you can learn things. Every employee at Shopify can expense Factorio" - Tobi(Shopify CEO).
Video games and movies are also perfect examples of transfer learning (this is how machines learn), where going over a situation 100 times makes you ready for a similar situation, playing certain games can help your brain rehearse thousand of repetitions for situations that are scarce in the real world)
In the same way, movies also shape people. Movies such as Shawshank redemption shows the power of hope and tell us that we live in an Uncertain World. I'll also link my movie reccos soon.
